The wait was finally over when 3 times IPL champion Mumbai Indians took over Delhi Capitals at the iconic Wankhede Stadium. Delhi Capitals under the mentorship of Ricky Ponting and Sourav Ganguly has blossomed like sunflower and started off the innings cautiously. Despite losing Prithvi Shaw early, Shikhar Dhawan steadied the innings, but never looked confident to score quickly.
But the real difference was made by Colin Ingram and Rishabh Pant, who went berserk and hit sixes and boundaries at will. Rishabh Pant totally turned the match and scored 78 runs of just 27 balls including 7 fours and 7 sixes and taking the team total to 213-6 in 20 overs.
Mumbai Indians on the other started off with a bang, but kept losing crucial wickets at regular intervals. Only Yuvraj Singh and Krunal Pandya were the shining spots of the match. After a while, Yuvraj Singh scored his maiden half century in the 12th edition of the IPL, but the total was beyond the reach.
In the end, Mumbai Indians found itself on the losing end and was bundled out for 177 runs in 20 overs. Delhi Capitals played like a champion throughout the match and ended up being the deserved champions.
